A World of Possibilities Begins in Kindergarten

Give your child the opportunity to learn, grow and connect in two languages. Minnetonka’s Chinese and Spanish Language Immersion programs combine strong academics with daily opportunities to develop language skills, build friendships and discover new perspectives.

Beginning in kindergarten and continuing through high school, students build a foundation for communicating across cultures and pursuing opportunities close to home and around the world. Language Immersion at Minnetonka

Children learn a language by using it. In Minnetonka’s immersion classrooms, Chinese or Spanish is the language of everyday learning. Students explore math concepts, investigate science, read stories and share ideas while building the skills to understand and communicate in another language.

Teachers make learning engaging and understandable through visuals, movement, songs, demonstrations and familiar routines. With daily practice and encouragement, students develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing as they grow academically.

A Pathway from Kindergarten Through Graduation

Your child’s first words in a new language are just the beginning. Minnetonka provides a pathway that helps students deepen their skills and put their learning to use throughout their academic journey.

• Elementary school: Build a foundation in language and academics through engaging, everyday learning.
• Middle school: Strengthen communication, reading and writing skills through continued immersion coursework.
• High school: Pursue advanced language and literature courses, with opportunities to earn recognition for bilingual proficiency, including Minnesota’s Bilingual Seal and the International Baccalaureate Bilingual Diploma.
