You don’t have to live within Minnetonka School District boundaries to become part of our school community. Through Minnesota’s Open Enrollment program, families who live outside the district can apply to attend Minnetonka Schools and discover exceptional academics, caring educators and opportunities that help students explore their interests and reach their potential.

More than 4,800 open-enrolled students from 41 Minnesota school districts call Minnetonka Schools home. These students and their families bring their talents, perspectives and enthusiasm to our classrooms, enriching the experience for our entire community. Ready to Apply for Open Enrollment?

If you live outside Minnetonka School District boundaries, follow these steps to get started:

2. Complete and submit your application.
   Download and complete the open enrollment application form. Email your completed form to the registration staff member assigned to your child’s last name:

2. Keep the January 15 deadline in mind.
   The statewide open enrollment application deadline is January 15. Missed the deadline? We still encourage you to apply! Applications received after January 15 are accepted as space allows. If space is not available, our admissions staff may place your child on a waiting list for a future opening.

3. Watch for your application decision and school placement offer.
   Our enrollment team will contact you with information about your application approval and school placement, along with the next steps for your family. This will typically occur 2-4 weeks after the January 15 deadline (or 2-4 weeks from the date of your application if applying after that date).

4. Confirm your child’s spot within two weeks of approval.
   Once your application is approved, complete the approved open enrollment registration form within two weeks to confirm your commitment to attend and secure your child’s place.

A School Community to Grow With

Once accepted, open-enrolled students may continue attending Minnetonka Schools through graduation as long as they maintain continuous enrollment. Your child can build lasting friendships, develop connections with teachers and grow as a learner in a community that supports them throughout their school years.
