Class of 2021 Gives Back Through Seniors Serve

On Monday, June 7, the Class of 2021 gave back to the community as part of the 18th annual Seniors Serve event.

“Part of Minnetonka Public School’s mission is to ensure that our students have the ability to be inspired to serve the greater good,” shared Sarah Johnson, Community Service Specialist for Minnetonka Schools. “Seniors Serve allows soon-to-be graduates a way to give back to the community that has supported them throughout their years at Minnetonka Public Schools. It’s a really special time for everyone involved—they go to support, thank, and say good-bye.”

Students participating in the day of service chose to spend time at one of more than 50 volunteer sites. Some seniors took part in outdoor clean-up projects for the City of Excelsior, sorted donations for a local thrift shop or cleaned fire trucks at a local station. Others went back to Minnetonka elementary schools to lead outdoor games and kickball tournaments or to clean and organize classroom materials. Still more completed projects at MHS such as decorating cards and journals for hospital patients or crafting fleece blankets and dog toys for a local rescue organization.

Everywhere they volunteered, seniors were appreciated. Project coordinators noted students were dedicated and hardworking in their projects, showing care and patience with their tasks.

Thank you to all members of the Class of 2021 who participated in Seniors Serve! You have made a difference at Minnetonka Schools, and we know you will continue to make a difference in your communities after graduation.
